Application of the Month
High Performance Machine – High Performance Exhaust
Watch how Ercolina’s 030 Mega Bender with mandrel system easily creates a quality bend in 2-1/2″ OD Stainless Steel with a 5″ Centerline Radius to create test bends for a custom exhaust manufacturer. Ercolina’s Mega Bender 030 with mandrel system is ideal for prototype or small production mandrel bending applications. 5′, 10′ and 20′ tables available.
Did You Know…
Be there or be square!
…Ercolina is exhibiting at several upcoming trade shows. This is a great opportunity to see an Ercolina bender in person, discuss your application with the experts, and find out what’s new. If you are planning to attend a show, let us know and we can send you a complimentary ticket.
Solving a piece of the mystery
One of the least understood concepts of mandrel bending is exactly how the tube is formed over the mandrel. Here is the secret. Depending upon material wall thickness and radius, the mandrel may have several articulating spheres on the leading end. During the bend, the mandrel is positioned to a set point forward and the spheres then pivot with the material to support it during the bend. Ercolina’s mandrel bending machines utilize an anticipated mandrel retraction setting to extract the mandrel from the bending zone hydraulically before the bend is completed to minimize deformation at the end of the bend. This feature is standard and programmable on all Ercolina mandrel bending machines. Check out our complete line of NC and CNC mandrel bending machines on our website or see them in person at our upcoming exhibitions.
Machine losing power?
The 070 Medi Bender and the 060 Super Bender utilize carbon brush type motors that need to be inspected and replaced over time. Worn motor brushes can cause the machines to lose power and their effectiveness. When replacing motor brushes, be sure to stone the armature commutator to ensure brushes are properly seated.
