Application of the Month
Largest rectangle bent by Ercolina
This month’s application of the month video features Ercolina’s TB100 bending 5” x 2” x .094” wall to a 9″ centerline radius. This recreational equipment manufacturer already owns an Ercolina machine and asked us to fabricate special tooling for this large rectangle profile.
Did You Know…
Product demonstrations available
…Ercolina has an expansive showroom stocked with a full line of Ercolina equipment under power. Customer demonstrations are conducted by factory trained personnel and can be tailored to your unique application. See how an Ercolina machine can produce your new or existing project. Call our sales team today to schedule a demo.
Strike a chord
No, Ercolina is not in the music business. One of the “mysteries” when using a ring roll machine is how to determine the radius of the part produced. CML USA does offer fabricators measuring set (part #KARC) that includes a digital, calculating indicator that will automatically compute and display the radius. This kit includes two chord gauges for inside and outside radius calculations. The digital indicator uses the calculation shown below so you are able to figure the radius manually as well. Either way, rolling profiles has become less of a mystery.
Measure Twice – Cut Once!
During a recent machine installation, the customer provided us with “cut-to-length” parts for bending. This proved to be an issue due to inconsistencies in cut length and inherent radial growth and springback. In this situation our technician worked with the customer to develop the correct cut length and produce parts that laid perfectly in the jig. Moral of the story: learn material characteristics and machine capabilities before cutting and possibly wasting material.
